2022 NAKED SPORTSBIKE OF THE YEAR

7TH BMW S1000 R M-SPORT • Total: 41/60 – nothing really wrong with it, just a bit bland in a class full of exciting bikes.

6TH YAMAHA MT-10 • Total: 43/60 – the MT-10 joins the party and does a solid job.

5TH KAWASAKI Z-H2 SE PERFORMANCE • Total: 45/60 – utterly bonkers, utterly brilliant… damn you, physics!

3RD/4TH APRILIA TUONO V4 FACTORY 1100 • Total: 46/60 – starting to show its age, but it’s still brilliant.

3RD/4TH TRIUMPH SPEED TRIPLE 1200RS • Total: 46/60 – just a set of more comprehensive electronics away from bothering the class leaders.

DUNLOP GP RACER D212

2ND DUCATI STREETFIGHTER V4 SP • Total: 47/60 – the upgrades don’t really make a difference on the road.

1ST KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R EVO • Total: 53/60 – semi-active suspension takes the Super Duke R to a new level.

ROUNDING OFF…

GREEN BUT FAR FROM MEAN • If you like your 1990s sportsbikes, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R is a hard act to beat

ALL HAIL THE PRIVATEER • You have to wonder why they do it. At best, they ride for free but more often than not they’re taking money to a team through personal sponsorship, they work regular jobs alongside riding in the UK’s premier race series, and if they bin it, it can cost thousands. But without them there is no grid, and without privateer teams, no stepping stone for younger talent. Josh Owens shines a light on life as a BSB privateer.
