Industrial-organizational psychologists Bradberry and Greaves are cofounders of TalentSmart, a management training and consulting firm in San Diego. This book, originally self-published in 2003, provides a quick outline of the major tenets of their emotional intelligence training philosophy. With the purchase of the book, readers are given a unique access code to a 28-question online "Emotional Intelligence Appraisal" to evaluate their own emotional intelligence level. The authors' engaging second-person style reads like a dynamic 0keynote presentation that offers a brief introduction to the field, an overview of the four basic skills that define emotional intelligence (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management), and suggestions on how to apply those skills at work and at home. This is a good motivational tool to raise reader interest in the field of emotional intelligence; however, one would need to look elsewhere for an in-depth treatment. Suitable for self-help and business collections in public libraries. -Crystal Renfro, Georgia Inst. of Technology Lib., Atlanta
