The second crime thriller in the No.1 bestselling Logan McRae series from Stuart MacBride. Even the darkest crimes will come to light... 'Stuart MacBride is a damned fine writer' Peter James Crime never sleeps. Down by the docks, in the dead of night, a woman is hunted down and killed. For DS Logan McRae, it's just the beginning of another nightmare. Neither does this killer. As the day dawns and the body count rises, Logan realises that this isn't just an isolated murder. It's far more disturbing than that. A killer is on the loose and wreaking havoc – and Logan is running out of time to stop them. And the clock is ticking ... Praise for 'Dying Light': 'Another brilliant, riveting police procedural. I'm green with envy!' R D Wingfield 'The story is violent and bloody; some of the crimes are vicious and MacBride doesn't hold back on the details. But there is plenty of dark humour, and a warmth to the portrayal of the police officers which lightens an otherwise grim tale by this very talented writer' Susanna Yager, Sunday Telegraph

In this savage, darkly comic second American outing for the newest member of the "Scottish noir" school, the action begins with a particularly gruesome crime: a madman has sealed up a squatter's apartment and set it—and the six people partying inside—afire. That same evening, a prostitute is found beaten to death, and Det. Sgt. Logan MacRae, the ambitious star of Cold Granite
(2005), is on the case. But his star has fallen; after a botched raid, MacRae has been demoted to the "Screw-Up Squad," led with a droll lack of enthusiasm by one Inspector Steel. Several characters from Cold Granite
reappear, but newcomers won't have any trouble parsing this thriller, though some may be unsettled by the jarring but witty contrast between MacBride's wry tone and the story's brutal violence. The city of Aberdeen figures as one of this well-written novel's main characters, a portrait that will warn readers away from its mean streets.
