The Team Roping Journal

TIE BALLGAME • The win at Cheyenne Frontier Days came down to a double tiebreaker to determine who would take the victory lap, and it was world champions Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira who set it all in motion. Although they didn’t survive the tiebreakers, their 7.6-second run in the finals, combined with their long round and semifinals placings, put $12,600 apiece in their pockets.

FOR THE TRAILER • At the Mathews Land & Cattle Stanton Special Ariat World Series Qualifier in Stanton, Texas, the high-point roper of the weekend took home a brand-new bumper pull trailer. The man driving home with that trailer hooked on was Stefan Ramone with 29 points. Ramone placed in the Open, #14.5 and #13.5, all on the head side.

TAKE A LAP BOYS • Nelson Wyatt and Jonathan Torres were crowned champions of the Caldwell Night Rodeo after winning Round 1 with a 4.6 for $4,604 a man, winning second in the finals from the high callback position with a 5.4, good for $984 each, and finishing with a 15.4 on three head in the average for $6,907 a man.

CALIFORNIA KID • 2026 Resistol Rookie Heeler of the Year contender Trey White, of Los Osos, California, heeled one behind NFR header Spencer Mitchell to win the Farm-City Pro Rodeo in Hermiston, Oregon, with a time of 17.0 seconds on three head, moving him into the rookie conversation toward the end of the season.

BEST BUDS WIN IN WASHINGTON • Slade Wood and Logan Moore took the Horse Heaven Roundup win in Kennewick, Washington, after winning Round 1, placing in the finals and going 15.3 on three head for $8,902 from the weekend.
