A different type of tractor • In the previous three instalments we have met the very first MB-trac of 1972 and then traced its evolution into a more sophisticated range of specialist four-cylinder tractors. We have also told the story of the first six-cylinder heavyweight machines that arrived in 1976. With two separate ranges, the MB-trac was now becoming a force to be reckoned with in the world of farm machinery, and in 1982 a new middleweight model joined the party, taking the best of the existing ranges and producing a popular hybrid that would eventually become two models.
