      Each left-hand page consists of a "parent's text" paragraph about pets; each facing page is a complementary one- or two-sentence "child's text." The "shared reading" concept would have worked better if the child's text wasn't often banal ("A pet is a very nice thing"). The often-comical color photos feature pets and those who love them.
