"McCoy Doesn't miss a romantic beat in her swoonworthy sophomore rom-com." —Publishers Weekly, Starred Review
A heart-pounding, curvy romance about an indie bookstore owner who finds herself in a love triangle when she meets the author she's had a crush on for years...and his best friend.
Zora has committed every inch of her life to establishing her thriving DC bookstore, making it into a pillar of the community, and she just hasn't had time for romance. But when a mystery author she's been crushing on for years agrees to have an event at her store, she starts to rethink her priorities. Lawrence is every bit as charming as she imagined, even if his understanding of his own books seems just a bit shallow. When he asks her out after his reading, she's almost elated enough to forget about the grumpy guy who sat next to her making snide comments all evening. Apparently the grouch is Lawrence's best friend, Reid, but she can't imagine what kind of friendship that must be. They couldn't be more different.
But as she starts seeing Lawrence, and spending more and more time with Reid, Zora finds first impressions can be deceiving. Reid is smart and thoughtful—he's also interested. After years of avoiding dating, she suddenly has two handsome men competing for her affection. But even as she struggles to choose between them, she can't shake the feeling that they're both hiding something—a mystery she's determined to solve before she can find her HEA.

McCoy (Savvy Sheldon Feels Good as Hell) doesn’t miss a romantic beat in her swoonworthy sophomore rom-com. Operating the Opus Northeast bookstore in Washington, D.C., is a dream come true for Black curvy bibliophile Zora Dizon—and even more so when she books Lawrence Michaels, her favorite mystery author and fangirl crush, for an in-store reading. He’s exactly as handsome and charming as she expected, but her experience of the event is interrupted by snarky comments from writing teacher Reid Hughes, who, it turns out, is Lawrence’s best friend. When both men pursue her, Zora’s torn between the man she’s always wanted based on his writing and public persona and the brooding yet intelligent Reid, who she suspects harbors a secret. Nicknamed “Zor-lock” by her best friend and roommate, Emma, Zora has an uncanny gift for sniffing out and solving mysteries—but investigating Reid threatens her shot at love, Reid and Lawrence’s friendship, and both men’s careers. McCoy expertly crafts a well-balanced love triangle between empathetic and passionate characters—and delivers plenty of comic relief in the form of Zora’s lovable matchmaking grandmother. Readers will delight in cheering on this strong heroine.

Adenrele Ojo goes above and beyond in her portrayal of bookstore owner Zora as she finds herself in a love triangle with bestselling author Lawrence and his brooding friend, Reid. Zora has always put her job and community work first, much to the dismay of her baby-obsessed grandmother. But while both men are perfect on paper, she can't help thinking there is some "Zora-lock Holmes" mystery behind each of them that needs to be solved. Ojo switches seamlessly from the voice of the distinguished matriarch to the impressively deep voices of the two men. Her characters laugh their dialogue when the story calls for it, project anguish, and are attractively sultry during passionate scenes. The voice acting in every line is impeccable and moving. S.S.
